In 1968, it's the end of the Beatlemania. It was the begging of The Beatles' studio years. They stopped live concerts because they wanted to focus on their creation on the studio. The tour was very exhausting. Since those years they released successful and very great albums :

In 1970, it was The Beatles' break-up. One of the most popular and influential musical group in history. They became almost as much of a legend.
There were numerous causes of The Beatles break-up. It wasn't a single event but a long transition, including the cessation of touring in 1966, the death of their manager Brian Epstein, in 1967.The conflict started from different artistic visions of each member. It was impossible to the group to continue  working together in the years that followed. The released of Paul McCartney's first solo album, called McCartney, symbolize their break-up.

The Beatles who were the most successful band in the 60's, split in 1970 because of tensions inside  the group. They are still famous. Now days we are still listening to their music and they will stay icons of the Rock Music for a long time.
